Council of Women Winnipeg operates as a non-partisan, non-sectarian diverse network of organizations and individuals who advocate for the welfare of Winnipeg women, families and society.

Ten Winnipeg women's groups came together on March 27th 1894, to organize the Winnipeg Council, one of the first in Canada. At one time, there were nearly 100 federate or organizational members of Council. Today, with many of these organizations no longer existing, there are fewer federate members.

This gala was created to recognize the contributions women make to our communities across Manitoba.
